5. 24 Carpenter (8)6. 26 Smith (4)
7. 21H Hinck (3)8. 69P Pearson (6)
Giannetto took off to the early lead and never looked back to win the first W.O.W. heat race of the 2002 season.  This race ran smoothly until lap 7, when Pearson flipped his car in turn 4.  Pearson would be a little banged up and was done for the evening.
Heat 2:
1. 78 Schulz (2)2. 44 Heavelow (1)
3. 1C Combs (8)4. 5J Ball Jr. (4)
5. 3A Adams Jr.(6)6. 33 McVay (5)
7. 5 Dean (7)8. 2 Cannell (3)
This race started off a little rough with Cannell catching the infield fence in turn one on the start.  Combs would then get into the back of Cannell.  Combs had minimal damage and continued on, but Lowe had his front end too bent up to continue.  On the restart, Schulz jumped out to the lead and never looked back.  Combs restarted in the seventh spot and passed four cars to claim the third.spot
Heat 3:1. 5 Hawks (2)
2. 19 Nichols (3)3. 14 Martin (4)
4. 75 Hockett (5)5. 85 Mikels (6)
6. 11R Rose (1)7. 10 Grimes (7)
Hawks led from flag to flag to claim the third heat of the night.  Nichols passed Hockett midway through the race to claim third and overtook Martin on lap 7 for the second spot, but there was no catching Jacksonville, Illinois' Bobby Hawks in this race.

4. 3P Potter (5)5. 51J Jamison (4)

11. 11R Rose (7)12. 5 Dean (10)
13. DNS - 10 Grimes14. DNS - 69P Pearson
Dean Adams lead from green to checkers.  There was not much passing in this race as most of the action had to do with cars pulling off of the track.  Dean pulled into the pits early in the race with engine trouble.  Rose's car came to a stop in turn one on lap 7; he did not continue.  McVay went from battling for the transfer spot with Carpenter to dropping out of the race on lap 8 with an engine problem.

Jesse Giannetto started on the pole and led all twenty laps to win the W.O.W. season opener at Capital Speedway in Holts Summit.  Thirty cars were on hand for tonight's race and we could not ask for much better weather than what we had.  The track was slick tonight and passing was at a premium.  A few drivers were able to find a way through the field.  Dean Adams and Jesse Hockett both moved up seven spots from where they started.  Randy Martin was able to advance himself six spots from his eleventh starting position.  Congratulations to Knoxville regular Jesse Giannetto for winning his first W.O.W. feature of his career.
